The café

Under the trees, by the sand.

Café Lipe is in the middle of Pattaya Beach, in the shade of the trees, with the sea right in front of the tables. Mornings are for breakfast and coffee; at lunchtime the kitchen cooks Thai dishes.

Darius, who came from Switzerland, and his wife Bee run the café. The menu brings both together: Western breakfasts and Thai cooking.

On the menu

Breakfast

Homemade muesli with fruit and milk or yoghurt, homemade bread with butter and jam or wild honey, eggs, pancakes, porridge with mango or banana — and three Café Lipe breakfast sets, one of them vegan.

Coffee, shakes and drinks

Coffee from fresh, organic beans, hot or iced. Tea, shakes from fresh fruit, health shakes and mocktails. Also Thai beer and cocktails.

Lunch and more

Sandwiches and flatbread rolls made with the café’s own bread, salads, soups and snacks, Thai dishes and curries, pasta and desserts.

Every dish from the vegetarian kitchen can also be made vegan. The café tries to use only locally grown food.

Beach clean-ups. Every Monday since 2013, a beach clean-up starts here at the café at 9:45 and is back at about 14:00 — together with Do It By Heart.

Boat trips. Off the beaten track: a captain of the Urak Lawoi, the island’s sea people, takes you out for a day in the Adang archipelago.

Dinner. By reservation only, for a few tables: Thai cooking combined with Western cuisine.
